1966 Refit and Rebuild MBM-Au66FC.jpgMartins Bank Branches in sussexMartins Bank’s Branch at Bexhill on Sea is subject to fair amount of disruption and upheaval,  as recorded by Alan Hill in his 1984 Booklet, “Martins Bank Branch in Sussex”.  Having opened in March 1939 at 45 Devonshire Road, Bexhill closes at the end of 1940 when the town is largely evacuated following the Fall of France in World War 2.  Bexhill transfers its business to Eastbourne Branch for the next five and a half years before re-opening at 18 Devonshire Road. Another sixteen years elapse before the branch is rebuilt, and from 1961 to 1962 Bexhill moves to another temporary adresss -  18 Parkhurst Road, whilst the work is completed. We have no images of this short lived branch, and if you can help with photos of this or any of Martins Bank’s 930+ Branches, pleas do get in touch with us at the usual address –
