Newcastle upon Tyne Tyneside Auction Mart

1968 COA.jpg1968 seems to be the time for the Bank to chase agricultural business in the North East, as we open two new branches, one at Tyneside Auction Mart, and the other in Gateshead at the North East Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market. Our track record of great service to farmers is well known, and we branches covering all the major Auction Marts in the North, and Cattle Markets in the Midlands Wales and the South.  We also have a permanent branch based at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.  You can read more about these specialist site branches on our ONE BANK - MANY FACES  page. Tyneside would appear to have a busy Auction Mart, as our branch there is open five days a week.  The ecpnomic importance of the branch to the Bank is further illustrated by its surviving the merger with Barclays and stayong open until the early 1980s.
