 Opened around 1890,
Collyhurst is particularly reminiscent of the early set of “Coronation
Street”. It is an original Branch of the Adelphi Bank, and makes it through
the mergers with the Lancashire and Yorkshire Bank and the Bank of Liverpool
and Martins to become part of the modern-day Martins Bank. In 1952 the
renumbering of Rochdale Road changes the address of the Branch from No 646 to
No 312. Similar post-war renumbering takes into account the changing face of
Manchester and the effects of bomb damage and slum clearance policy.  The demise of Collyhurst Branch begins with
  a downgrading to a status of self-accounting sub-Branch Queen’s Park. |
